Later this month, Manchester Academy 2 will see a massive homecoming show for three of Manchester’s fastest growing artists- Glass Caves, Kashmere and Freeda.
The gig, on February 16, will be the biggest headline yet for Glass Caves,a four-piece band from Pontefract. The band mix fuelling riffs with experimental sounds, featuring both pop and electronic influences. Since releasing their debut album in 2014, they have adapted their classic indie sound to feature funk and soulful tones, creating a more captivating set, which is guaranteed to make you dance, while still having the roaring background to lift the music higher.
The group are known for their powerful performance, allowing their anthemic tracks to capture any audience and fill any venue. They can also be found regularly busking on the streets of the UK’s cities, promoting their music and reaching out to followers- or soon-to-be fans.
In October last year the Glass Caves released new single, Taipei Nights, the first of a trio to be launched. The next track, Common Tongue, is being released on Friday- perfectly timed for their biggest headline to date! And I hope we will be hearing the third track very soon- maybe a sneak-peak at Academy 2?
Supporting the band will be Stockport quartet, Kashmere. The group have seen streams of success over the past year, performing their own headline shows across China and Europe while also coming back home to perform a fierce set at Band On The Wall, as part of their UK tour in November. The group have released several singles, most recently Anaesthesia, taking the recent 80’s phenomena to a new level, launching songs which feel like they’re taking you back in time but also staying relevant and modern. Kashmere have recently their single, Gravity, to be released on 15th February, just a day before they take to the stage at Academy 2.
Freeda will be opening the night with an energising performance which will undoubtedly begin the evening with a bang, the group use passionate beets and irresistible riffs. They are also releasing their next single, Plead, on the 7th February, perfectly in time for their high-powered set opening the night for Glass Caves.
