Ahead of Kashmere’s homecoming show at Manchesters Band on the Wall this Saturday, 10 November, we’ve asked the Stockport-grown quartet a few questions about what they’ve been up to and what they’ve got coming.
Joey Newey – Frontman Guitar
Andy Law – Drums
Charlie Cole – Lead Guitar
Freddie Hughes – Bass
How did you meet and come to form a band?
Andy and I (Joey) formed the original line up of Kashmere in 2014 with close friends of ours, over the years we have evolved and morphed into a new entity with the help of Charlie (2016) and Freddie (2017).
Describe your sound in as few words possible.
Electro Indie Doom Pop.
What have you been up to over the past few months?
We’ve been doing a lot of shows including our first overseas shows in China and Europe, alongside out current UK tour. We’ve also released our video for Codeine and recently released our latest single Anaesthesia.
What’s do you consider to be your greatest achievement so far?
Probably our time in China, it was an incredible experience for us and was something we would always have dreamed of doing.
What do you have planned for the near future?
We’ve got a string of releases ready for our upcoming 2019 EP, we will most likely be touring that in the UK next year, and also should be heading back to China at some point in 2019.
Is there anywhere you look for inspiration?
When writing I always try to go to the source of inspiration, find who inspired the bands which inspire me and work from there.
What’s your anthem track?
Out of our back catalogue it would have always been Porcelain on the last tours, but coming into our Manchester show this Saturday I think it’ll have shifted onto Codeine by now.
Who are the top 3 local artists you’d recommend?
Andy and Freddie love Hers they’re from Liverpool so they’re almost local! Gathering of Strangers, Glass Caves and Voodoo and the Crypts, they aren’t local, but they are mint!
Don’t forget to go to Band on the Wall on Saturday for a dance and a sing along with the band and keep your eyes out for an upcoming EP sometime next year!
