Dear Caroline are a fast-growing phenomenon in Manchester’s flourishing music scene. Their unique sound takes a melody and infuses it with charisma, adding a little roughness around the edges.
Their new single, I Still Taste Blood, at first, comes across as stripped back, beginning with an acoustic guitar. A steady build up with harsh strums is complemented by an eerie twang in the background, exposing a darker side to the band. The raw vocal is introduced, fronting but not taking over the track and capturing an almost spine-chilling echo. The dynamic song is electrified with an escalation of roaring riffs, lifting it to a higher level. Contrasting it’s beginning, tribal-like drum beats take over, while still keeping a slightly sinister tone. The song keeps this high-energy level until the very end where the pounding drums bring it to a close.
The track comes out on November 9, so be sure to go and have a listen.
